If you are a venue manager, director or producer looking to make your live performance work accessible for both audiences and artists, a qualified access consultant is key to the process. Don’t leave your access considerations to the last minute - for a project to be accessible, it must be a core component of planning, funding, programming, and design decisions.
Having worked on The Last Avant Garde research team at University of Melbourne (Beyond the Social Model: Disability and the Performing Arts in Australia) (ARC, AAV, UniSyd) under chair Kath Duncan, I have a unique understanding of the needs of d/Deaf and disabled artists in a performing arts setting. Further, my research into accessible theatre practice at University of Southern Queensland tested the application of accessible theatre practice conventions in an original theatrical work. These findings put me in the optimal position to guide your organisation and/or theatre project planning to make your work and creative processes more accessible, while my experience in arts administration means that I am familiar with the needs and workings of arts organisations.
