TOUR! GOLD COAST - Love Me;

Are you aware that 1 in 5 Australians aged 16-85 experience mental illness in any year? Did you know that suicide is the leading cause of death in 15-24 year olds?

Love me; is an accessible performance designed to unpack the stigma surrounding mental illness and provoke conversation over how to promote mental wellbeing.

[Image Description: six photographs in a collage in a 3x2 format. Each photograph features an artist headshot, one with fingers poking into her face, another with masking tape over his mouth, another covering her mouth, another staring into the camera with hands on his face, another smiling wide with her eyes closed, and the last staring into the camera with bird feathers partially obstructing his face.]

Love Me; is a multi-art form performance investigating the idea that anyone can struggle with mental illness. Using interactive sound design and projection, verbatim text, spoken word, slam poetry and music Love Me; unpacks the stigma surrounding mental illness. The performers, some of whom also have the lived experience of mental illness and social prejudice draw on this to bring a unique perspective to this project. It is this personal experience that our artists share with young people that has informed the content to create a show that is raw, funny, and vulnerable.

Presented by HOTA and indelabilityarts

Love Me; has proudly been supported the Queensland Mental Health Commission, Brisbane City Council and Arts QLD through the Creative Sparks grant and Redland Performing Arts Centre. This tour is supported by arTour, an initiative of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. This project is supported by The Playing Queensland Fund and arTour, initiatives of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

SPEAKING: Leading to the Future panel @ Meeting Place forum - Arts Access Australia

The Leading Forum for Disability
Arts and Culture in Australia

Madeleine will be speaking on the Leading to the Future panel at Meeting Place discussing best-practice models from around Australia and the world, featuring Belinda Locke, Jody Holdback, Jovana Komnenic and Dirk Sorge. Facilitated by Meagan Shand.

Meeting Place is the signature event of Arts Access Australia, the national peak body for arts and disability in Australia.

Meeting Place is a national forum created in 2012 to build stronger linkages and collaboration between stakeholders. Meeting Place is held annually and brings artists with disability together with industry leaders in an accessible and supported space, to present, perform, discuss and debate the latest in arts and disability.

The first international Meeting Place was held in Germany in 2017, and the aim is to hold an international forum every four years.
